CONGRATULATIONS Charles & JoAnna Montoya of AC Disposal Services, Inc. - our 2011 Star Client
AC Disposal Services was started in Belen, NM in 1992 by Asiano Montoya. As a teenager, his son Charles “officially” began helping his Dad with the business, learning the business from the ground up. In 2006, Charles and his wife, JoAnna, took over the business from Charles’s Dad and have been building the business steadily since then.
The business has been built by the customer’s word-of-mouth advertising that is generated by the company’s dedication to delivering outstanding customer service. This means person-to-person conversations to solve problems; scheduling special stops to pick-up bulky items, and always, leaving a clean area after the load pick-up. For several years now, AC Disposal has given back to the community by providing trash containers at no charge, at special community events, fairs, and expositions.
The company’s first experience with the Valencia SBDC was to prepare to submit a bid for the County’s commercial and residential trash removal. Charles said, “We needed loans, bonding, financial statements, and a business plan. We were helped through every step and pointed in the right direction. Unfortunately, Valencia County never went through with the bid but this never stopped us from continuing to expand the business, along with extra pushes of help from the SBDC. “ The company has since moved their offices into larger quarters, hired two new people, purchased two new trucks, a computer system, and accounting software. Charles mentioned, “The SBDC even provided the workshops that helped us learn how to use the software”.
The expansion the company has experienced has prepared them for the next stage of growth they know is coming. This time, however, the AC Disposal Service’s team includes an accountant, a banker, an insurance broker, and the SBDC Valencia.
