Clovis Pool, Spa, and Patio
Richard & Nicole Hahn
320 W. 21st Street
Clovis, NM
Richard and Nicole Hahn have successfully established a retail service business specializing in swimming pool and spa installation & repair; sales of specialized chemicals for pools and spas; billiard tables and accessories; TuffShed brand storage buildings; and backyard accessories including fireplaces and gazebos.
Richard came to the Small Business Development Center at Clovis Community College seeking direction on their business dream in December 2003. Richard, a high school science teacher, maintained swimming pools as a side job and desired to establish a complementary business for his wife, Nicole. The Hahns and SBDC Advisors discussed the pros and cons of a business venture and provided “homework” to the Hahns for completion of a written proposal.
The Hahn’s decided the best way to complement Richard’s knowledge of swimming pools was to create a backyard extravaganza business for the surrounding communities. Prior to the initial advising session with the SBDC, Richard researched a potential location and surveyed inventory needs and equipment requirements.
After several advising sessions and numerous hours of research, the Hahns presented to Terry Blaschke, a local lender, a detailed Business Proposal. The proposal was approved and today the Hahns continue to enjoy owning a successful business. They have five full time employees. They are contributors to the community and believe in continuous improvement for their entire team.
The Hahns appreciated the SBDC assistance, “We continue to recommend the Small Business Development Center to anyone we know who desires to start a business. As a rule, we tell them the importance of preparing prior to the initial meeting with the SBDC and how they (potential Client) must do their part in completing the plan,” states Nicole Hahn.
“It was a pleasure working with the Hahns because they were eager to accomplish the tasks needed”, stated the SBDC Center Director. The Hahns are a great asset to the Clovis/Portales Microplex.
